Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Ukraine, together with its international partners, is closer to a possible end to the war with Russia, reports UNIAN. He primarily attributed this progress to the efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Zelensky emphasized that the war cannot end quickly, as Ukraine has been confronting the Russian military for more than three years. “However, there is now strong political demand worldwide for the war to end,” he said.
The Ukrainian president added that Ukraine is preparing a contract to purchase 25 Patriot missile defense systems.
According to Zelensky, the deliveries will be spread over several years, with the systems being handed over as they come off the production line. However, as the president noted, the White House could accelerate the deliveries if there is sufficient political will.
“The procurement is planned to be mainly financed through frozen Russian assets, but other mechanisms are also being considered within the framework of 28 bilateral security agreements,” he clarified.
