On Tuesday, the Israeli government approved the call-up of 360,000 more reservists, doubling the number of reservists currently in service, Ynet reported.
The country’s air force aircrafts will be sent to European countries in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide transport for Israelis who are in reserve and wish to return and take part in military operations.
Military spokesman Daniel Hagari said 123 soldiers of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have been confirmed dead since Saturday’s Hamas attack, and the families of 50 prisoners in Gaza had been informed.
According to him, Israel has full control of the Gaza border zone, although clashes with infiltrating militants are still possible.
“This is a war zone,” he said. “We are building a wall of tanks, planes and helicopters to prevent invasion, and our military policy is to shoot and kill anyone who approaches the border,” he said.
He added that all civilians in populated areas along the border had been evacuated.
