Turkey’s Foreign Ministry said the United States’ veto of a United Nations Security Council-proposed resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza was a “total disappointment.”
“Our friends have reiterated that America is now alone on this issue, especially in the vote today at the United Nations,” Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told state broadcaster TRT on Friday.
He spoke after meeting with his counterparts from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League, who met with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Washington.
Earlier, the US vetoed a resolution in the UN Security Council on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
