Turkey, France leaders discuss regional issues

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday, Daily Sabah reports.

The leaders of the two countries discussed the events unrolling in Syria, bilateral relations, as well as regional and global issues, informed the communications office of the Turkish president.

“President Erdogan emphasized the importance of preserving Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and expressed his satisfaction with France’s decision to reopen its embassy in Syria,” the aforesaid office said in a statement.

Also, Erdogan told Macron that “work is being done to return Syrian refugees to their country, and emphasized ensuring cooperation within the international community to create stable conditions for the return of refugees as well as for the reconstruction of Syria.”
