The newly appointed Foreign Minister of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, had a telephone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, where they discussed bilateral relations, Anadolu reports, citing diplomatic sources.
Shoukry also congratulated Fidan on assuming the post.
Fidan took over from his predecessor Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu earlier this week, who was the head of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) for 13 years.
Back in April, then Turkish foreign minister Çavuşoğlu said that Turkey and Egypt had agreed to improve bilateral ties and raise diplomatic relations to a higher level.
