Iran’s response to the 15-point proposal put forward by the United States was officially sent last night through intermediaries, and Tehran is now awaiting a reply from the other side, Tasnim reports, citing an informed source.
According to the source, Iran stated in its response that hostile acts of aggression and terrorism must cease, objective conditions must be created to ensure the war does not recur, compensation and war damages must be guaranteed and clearly defined, and a ceasefire must apply across all fronts, including all resistance groups involved in the conflict throughout the region.
Tehran also stressed that sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz is Iran’s natural and legitimate right and will remain so, and that the other side’s commitments must be guaranteed and recognized. These conditions differ from those presented during the second round of talks in Geneva, held a few days before the US and Israeli strikes in Esfand.
“Iran clearly understands that the US statements about negotiations are merely a ‘third deception’ project, with several objectives: first, to mislead the world by creating the appearance of seeking peace and ending the war; second, to keep global oil prices low; and third, to buy time to prepare for new aggressive actions in southern Iran through a ground invasion.
If before the 12-day war Iran had doubts about the outcome of negotiations and US commitment to agreements, after the 12-day war it now has serious doubts about the genuine readiness of the United States for negotiations at any time. The Americans launched war during negotiations both during the 12-day war and during Ramadan, and now, under the false pretext of negotiations, they are trying to prepare the ground for another crime,” the source was quoted as saying.
