The conflict with Ukraine will end when Russia achieves all of its initial objectives, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said, reports Interfax.
“Of course, we would like this conflict to end as soon as possible. And it can end when Russia achieves its initial objectives,” Peskov told reporters, commenting on US President Donald Trump’s statement that the conflict in Ukraine will end in the near future.
Peskov recalled that Russia would prefer to resolve the conflict through political and diplomatic means, and emphasized that the Russian side is open to this approach.
However, Peskov noted, a pause is currently in place, which is not Moscow’s fault; the Ukrainian side does not want to continue the conversation. “They are being provoked in every way by the Europeans, who believe that Ukraine can win the war and protect its interests by military means,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
According to him, this is the deepest misconception that Kyiv can and does allow.
“The situation on the frontline shows the opposite. It speaks very dynamically and eloquently about the shortsightedness of the Kyiv regime’s stance, which will deteriorate day by day, it is inevitable,” added the Russian presidential press secretary.
