The King has spoken publicly on his cancer diagnosis for the first time as William remains “upset” with Harry.

Charles expressed his “most heartfelt thanks” to the nation for their “many messages of support and good wishes” after he revealed he is being treated for an undisclosed form of cancer, having only acceded to the throne 17 months ago.

In the statement to the public issued by Buckingham Palace on Saturday, the monarch also said it was “equally heartening” to hear how sharing his diagnosis has helped to promote public understanding of cancer.

It comes as tensions between Prince William and Prince Harry continue to mount after the Duke of Sussex dashed to the UK to reunite with their father following Charles’ shock health announcement on Monday.

Harry reportedly spent less than an hour with the 75-year-old monarch on Tuesday before returning home to California the next day, having had no contact with his estranged brother.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, reportedly said it would look to William that Harry merely used the visit as a “PR opportunity”.

On Friday, Harry’s barrister, David Sherborne, told the court that MGN had agreed on an offer to settle the claim, with the publisher to pay “a substantial additional sum by way of damages” and Harry’s legal costs.

1707598834William ‘upset’ with Harry after visit to UKThe Prince of Wales is reportedly “upset” with his brother following his fleeting 26-hour visit to the UK to see their father following his cancer diagnosis.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, told The Sun: “William would be upset that Harry yet again has chosen to make this visit to see his father a PR opportunity.”

She added that William has “absolutely no interest” in speaking to Harry currently.

Charles personally called both Harry and William, as well as his siblings Anne, the Duke of York and the Duke of Edinburgh, to give them the news before it was publicly announced to the nation by the Palace at 6pm on Monday.

Less than 24 hours after the news was made public, Harry boarded a plane from California to fly over 5,000 miles to London on Tuesday.

His meeting with his father lasted less than an hour and just 26 hours later he left the UK once again – reportedly without seeing his brother William.
