From today’s discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, we fully understood that Armenia is very serious about achieving stable peace and is taking serious steps. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stated this during Wednesday’s joint news conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, in Yerevan.
“The previous day, I had a telephone conversation with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. I observed that they also welcome the achievement of lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. I also had a telephone conversation with [Russian FM] Mr. [Sergey] Lavrov twice in the past week. I thought so and I still think so that it is possible to achieve [agreement between Armenia an Azerbaijan] in the first months of the new year in order to achieve stable peace,” said the Iranian FM,
He noted that there are positive attitudes in the region that can optimistically and realistically consider the establishment—without external interference—of stable peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the region through Iran, Russia, and Turkey in the 3+3 format.
