The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin back in 2023.
Hungary, as a country that ratified the Rome Statute of the ICC, is within its jurisdiction, but Budapest will not arrest the Kremlin leader when he comes to Hungary, reports Bild.
Hungary’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has guaranteed Putin’s entry into the country, and stated that everything will be done to ensure he can conduct successful talks with US President Donald Trump and then return home.
Putin will be received with respect, accommodated, and all conditions will be provided for negotiations with Trump, Szijjarto said.
