CENTCOM dismisses report on Iran shooting down US fighter jet

The claim by Iranian state television that Iran shot down a US fighter jet over the Persian Gulf near Bushehr Province is false, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Friday.

“No US aircraft were shot down. All US air assets are accounted for,” CENTCOM wrote on X.

On Thursday night, IRIB television reported that Iran’s air defenses had shot down a “hostile aircraft” in the coastal Bushehr Province.

“The incident that occurred tonight was related to the shooting down of a hostile aircraft,” Masoud Tangestani, the governor of Iran’s Jam governorate in Bushehr, said, Tasnim News Agency reports.
