About ten countries would be ready to send their troops to Ukraine, sources familiar with the respective discussions say, Bloomberg reports. This would be done after the signing of a peace agreement, within the framework of security guarantees.

According to informed sources, European officials on Tuesday discussed the plan to send British and French troops to Ukraine within the framework of a peace agreement, including the number and location of this military contingent, Bloomberg notes.

French President Emmanuel Macron had announced after a summit in Washington on Monday that European armed forces should participate in peacekeeping operations in Ukraine after the end of hostilities.

The Russian side has consistently rejected the idea of deploying Western troops on Ukrainian territory.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt previously had stated that Washington was considering air support as one of the possible options within the framework of security guarantees for Ukraine. According to her, US President Donald Trump knows that security guarantees are crucial to ensuring lasting peace.

He has instructed his national security team to coordinate actions with European friends, as well as to continue cooperation and discussion of these matters with Ukraine and Russia, Leavitt had said, adding that although Trump has ruled out the possibility of sending American troops to Ukraine, Washington can help with coordination and may be able to provide other security measures.

A package of security guarantees for Ukraine is expected to be formed this week, while European leaders seek to strengthen Kyiv’s position before a possible meeting between Russian and Ukrainian presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Bloomberg adds.
