Around 39,000 Hyundai workers stage strike in South Korea

Hyundai Motor workers in South Korea have staged their first large-scale strike in a decade, Yonhap reports.

The strike has been joined by about 39,000 of the company’s employees.

The strike is expected to cost Hyundai $1.64 billion in cumulative production losses.

The strikers are demanding an increase in monthly base pay and a performance bonus equivalent to 30 percent of the company’s operating profit last year.
