US ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink will soon leave her post, the State Department said, Reuters reports.

She has been ambassador to Ukraine for three years, a long time in a war zone, the department said in a statement.

According to Reuter’s sources, Brink will resign of her own free will.

She has been Washington’s ambassador to Kyiv since May 2022, DW reports.

The diplomat’s disagreement with the policies of US President Donald Trump’s administration, as well as her deteriorating working relationship with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, were the reasons for this decision, the sources told the Financial Times (FT).

They said that White House officials had put pressure on Brink. Western diplomats in Kyiv described Brink as a key defender of Ukraine and a strong personality, adding that pressure from both the Trump and Zelenskyy administrations had negatively affected her.

She has recently changed her rhetoric on social media to be more in line with Trump’s position, FT notes.
