The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has struck a US military base from which attacks were earlier launched on Iranian facilities on Sirik Island. The IRGC’s respective statement was posted on its Telegram channel Monday by the Iranian state-run IRIB television and radio company.
“Following the US military’s aggression on Sirik island in Hormozgan Province, an hour ago, the IRGC Aerospace Force fighter jets struck the [US] airbase from which the aggression was launched, and the designated targets were destroyed,” the report said.
It is noted that if the strikes on Iranian territory are repeated, the response will be “completely different”, and the responsibility will fall on the US.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced earlier on Monday that the United States had carried out strikes on several facilities in Iran. CENTCOM noted that the strikes by American fighters had destroyed Iranian air defenses, a ground control point, and two attack drones.
