TrustConf2026 by imID, an annual conference dedicated to digital trust, was held in Yerevan for the first time, bringing together representatives of the public and private sectors, financial and telecommunications industries, the technology community, businesses, and international experts.

TrustConf was established as an annual platform for Armenia’s digital trust ecosystem, designed to bring together key industry stakeholders to discuss the development and practical application of digital trust, international experience, and the sector’s future, while fostering continuous professional dialogue around its next stages of development.

The launch of TrustConf also marked a new stage in the development of Armenia’s digital trust landscape, taking the experience and capabilities already built in the country to a broader industry level and bringing together stakeholders from across the ecosystem.

“Trust began with infrastructure. Over the past years, we have built the technological foundation on which imID’s products and services are now being developed. We are now entering the next stage with the new-generation imID app, where the infrastructure and trust services we have built translate into a simple and accessible user experience. A new solution, a new experience, but the same trust on which imID was built,” said Karen Mkoyan, CEO of imID.

The new-generation imID app is built around six key advantages: advanced security, anti-phishing protection, EU eIDAS 2.0 compliance, a user-centric interface, robust identity proofing, and broad accessibility.

The development of digital trust, however, extends beyond technological solutions. Its broader adoption depends on effective public-private cooperation, bringing technological solutions together with public digital infrastructure and the regulatory environment.

As a practical example of such cooperation, Lusine Barseghyan, Head of Electronic Identification at the Information Systems Regulatory Commission, presented the YesEm national identification platform as an important component of interoperability between public and private systems.

The practical application of digital trust infrastructure was also demonstrated at TrustConf2026. Armen Avak Avakian, Chief Product & Marketing Officer at imID, demonstrated the new-generation imID app and the electronic document signing process through imID Sign, showing how the sophisticated technology underlying the system translates into a fast, secure, and simple experience for the end user.

“During this period, we not only built the necessary technological foundation but also developed our products and services on top of it—from digital identity and identification to electronic signatures. imID Sign is one tangible example of that work,” said Armen Avak Avakian.

Another important direction for digital trust is alignment with international standards and interoperability. For Armenia, this creates an opportunity not only to develop solutions in line with international requirements, but also to strengthen its position in the global trust services landscape.

In this context, Marcin Wolski, eIDAS expert at Obserwatorium.biz, presented the European eIDAS framework and discussed prospects for closer cooperation between Armenia and the European Union.

“In a very short period of time, Armenia has made significant progress in trust services and today has a competitive ecosystem aligned with European standards. We are no longer talking only about transferring expertise, but about partnership—building stronger ties between Armenia and the European trust community and shaping the next steps together,” said Marcin Wolski.

The partnership also includes an important new initiative: in 2027, imID, as a partner of the Trusted Economy Forum, will host part of the programme of one of the largest conferences dedicated to the trust ecosystem in Yerevan, as part of TrustConf2027.

The conference concluded with the Trust Talks live podcast, continuing the digital trust conversation in an interactive discussion format. Moderated by Narek Amirkhanyan, the discussion brought together Anna Hakobyan, Chief Legal, Risk & Compliance Officer at imID, and Marine Khachatryan, Chief Finance & Operations Officer at imID, who explored digital trust from legal, financial, and operational perspectives.
