Elon Musk has seemingly challenged Vladimir Putin to a fight for Ukraine.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hereby challenge Vladimir Putin to single combat,\u201d he tweeted, using the Russian alphabet to write Mr Putin\u2019s name.<\/p>\n
\u201cStakes are Ukraine,\u201d he continued, writing the country\u2019s name in its own language.<\/p>\n
In a follow-up tweet, Mr Musk then posted a whole message in Russian. \u201cDo you agree to this fight?\u201d, he wrote, tagging the Kremlin\u2019s official English language Twitter account.<\/p>\n
Mr Musk then replied to another Twitter user who suggested that the Russian president would easily win any fight.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf Putin could so easily humiliate the west, then he would accept the challenge,\u201d Mr Musk wrote. \u201cBut he will not.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Musk has taken an active role in the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia, both on his Twitter feed and through his companies. He has mocked Russian officials on social media, as well as providing Starlink space internet equipment to Ukraine.<\/p>\n
The tweet came after a number of bizarre posts by Mr Musk over the morning.<\/p>\n
In the hour before that post, he had written \u201cBy the pricking of my thumbs\u201d, an apparent reference to Macbeth \u2013\u00a0a lien that is followed by the phrase \u201csomething wicked this way comes\u201d.<\/p>\n
And shortly before that, he had posted \u201cThere is a beauty to the biological substrate\u201d. It was not clear what he meant, but the phrase is used in neuroscience and psychology \u2013\u00a0something in which Mr Musk has an interest, through his startup Neuralink.<\/p>\n
Elon Musk\u2019s posts on Twitter have caused him and his companies trouble in the past. Mr Musk has said that he \u201cwas always crazy\u201d on the site, and said in an interview that he saw the site as a \u201cwar zone\u201d.<\/p>\n
Previous posts have included one reading \u201cTesla stock price is too high imo\u201d, which wiped $14 billion off the value of the company, and another commitment to sell \u201calmost all physical possessions\u201d and to \u201cown no house\u201d.<\/p>\n
Those controversial tweets have led to a run of legal issues, including lawsuits from the US Securities and Exchange Commission as well as from one of the divers involved in the rescue of children who were stuck in a cave in Thailand.<\/p>\n
