Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s response to his proposals to end the war as \u201ctotally unacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n
Over the weekend, it emerged that Tehran had responded via Pakistan, which has acted as mediator in the conflict, to the administration\u2019s latest plan to end the fighting.<\/p>\n
But on Sunday night, the US president wrote on his Truth Social platform: “I have just read the response from Iran\u2019s so-called \u201cRepresentatives.\u201d I don\u2019t like it \u2014 TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.\u201d<\/p>\n
Iranian state media said the country\u2019s response had focused on ending the war on all fronts, especially in Lebanon, and on the safety of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, where the US and Iran have enacted dueling blockades.<\/p>\n
It followed the US proposal to end fighting before starting talks on more contentious issues, including Iran’s nuclear program.<\/p>\n
On Sunday evening, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu told CBS News that there is still \u201cwork to be done\u201d in Iran, though he refrained from offering a timetable for the war\u2019s end.<\/p>\n
He further said that Israel should wean itself off of American military aid in the future.<\/p>\n
