The Tisza Party candidate who won Hungary’s parliamentary election Sunday has expressed a desire to maintain good relations with the United States, but added that he will not call US President Donald Trump, The Guardian reports.<\/p>\n
Peter Magyar said the US is a very important partner with which Hungary should maintain good relations.<\/p>\n
Magyar noted that he would not call Trump, but his administration would be open to talks if the White House contacted him.<\/p>\n
Also, Magyar said he wants to have \u201cpragmatic\u201d ties with Moscow as Hungary continues to be \u201cexposed\u201d to Russia on energy imports.<\/p>\n
He said he will review \u201call contracts\u201d for Russian energy and renegotiate and terminate them \u201cif necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n
On relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Magyar said he would tell him to stop the war in Ukraine, but wouldn\u2019t really expect him to listen to that advice.<\/p>\n
But he expressed a hope Putin will be forced to end the war soon and said it\u2019s clear that Ukraine is the victim here as the \u201cRussian aggression\u201d continues.<\/p>\n
