Two suspicious devices were found on Saturday outside Gracie Mansion, the official residence of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.<\/p>\n
Officers were on scene at the time for a scheduled demonstration near the residence, the NYPD told The Independent.<\/p>\n
They were alerted around midday to the devices and took two \u201cpersons of interest\u201d into custody, police said.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo injuries or property damage have been reported at this time,\u201d a department spokesperson added.<\/p>\n
It is unclear if the mayor or first lady were present at the residence at the time of the threat. <\/p>\n

Smoke started coming out of one of the devices, and the NYPD bomb squad is investigating, WABC reports.<\/p>\n
Photos from the scene appear to show one of the devices, a round object wrapped in metallic tape. <\/p>\n
The arrests took place during an anti-Islam protest led by conservative influencer Jake Lang.<\/p>\n
There, Lang and his far-right supporters met a contingent of counterprotesters, and the groups traded blows, while a far-right protester reportedly pepper-sprayed members of the opposing group. <\/p>\n

Lang himself walked a goat through the crowd, and police later helped him exit the area.<\/p>\n
At least six people total were arrested at the demonstration, including one person for disorderly conduct and another for using pepper spray, police sources told ABC News.<\/p>\n
Jake Lang, a pardoned January 6 rioter, is known for supporting right-wing causes and eliciting violent counterprotests in his wake (Copyright 2026 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.)Earlier this month, Lang, a January 6 rioter, was charged with making threatening statements about a police officer who was present at a fifth-anniversary event commemorating the attack on the Capitol.<\/p>\n
The provocateur was also arrested last month for vandalizing an ice sculpture at the Minnesota State Capitol protesting the Trump administration\u2019s immigration agenda.<\/p>\n
The previous month, Lang was in Minneapolis, where he led a \u201ccrusader march\u201d demonizing Muslims. He also used his visit to praise immigration agents, who had just fatally shot protester Renee Good in the city. <\/p>\n
During a January 17 demonstration there, Lang was vastly overwhelmed by counter-protesters who chased him from the city\u2019s federal courthouse and targeted him with water balloons amid sub-freezing temperatures.<\/p>\n
