Donald Trump had announced new sanctions on two of Russia\u2019s largest oil companies over Vladimir Putin\u2019s \u201crefusal\u201d to end the \u201csenseless war\u201d in Ukraine – the first such measures since he began his second term as US president.<\/p>\n
The US Treasury said it was sanctioning Rosneft and Lukoil in response to Putin\u2019s \u201clack of serious commitment to a peace process\u201d.<\/p>\n
