President Donald Trump has launched an attack on the nation\u2019s museums for being \u201cWOKE,\u201d specifically targeting the Smithsonian, calling it \u201cOUT OF CONTROL.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a post on Truth Social on Tuesday afternoon, the president wrote: \u201cThe Museums throughout Washington, but all over the Country are, essentially, the last remaining segment of \u2018WOKE\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
He continues: \u201cThe Smithsonian is OUT OF CONTROL, where everything discussed is how horrible our Country is, how bad Slavery was, and how unaccomplished the downtrodden have been \u2014 Nothing about Success, nothing about Brightness, nothing about the Future.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump laid out his intentions, writing: \u201cWe are not going to allow this to happen, and I have instructed my attorneys to go through the Museums, and start the exact same process that has been done with Colleges and Universities where tremendous progress has been made.\u201d<\/p>\n
He concluded: \u201cThis Country cannot be WOKE, because WOKE IS BROKE. We have the \u2018HOTTEST\u2019 Country in the World, and we want people to talk about it, including in our Museums.\u201d<\/p>\n
The social media post follows Trump’s announcement last week to conduct a thorough review of the Smithsonian Institution, a group of museums, education, and research centers established by the U.S. government, to ensure its exhibitions reflect the administration\u2019s view of American history.<\/p>\n
