Prince Harry and Meghan Markle\u2019s tour of Colombia began yesterday and the former working royals have a packed four-day itinerary.<\/p>\n
Harry and Meghan were met in the capital Bogota on Thursday by Colombia\u2019s vice-president Francia Marquez and spent around half an hour at her residence, where they exchanged welcome gifts and were offered tea and traditional pandebono \u2013 Colombian cheese bread.<\/p>\n
They then visited a local school and joined a summit about creating a healthier digital landscape.<\/p>\n
In the days to come, they will be immersed in the country\u2019s arts and culture as they visit the capital city of Bogot\u00e1 as well as Cartagena and Cali.<\/p>\n
Harry and Meghan will also meet with the country\u2019s Invictus Games team. <\/p>\n
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex\u2019s trip comes as the timeline for the Princess of Wales\u2019s ongoing cancer treatment has been revealed.<\/p>\n
She will continue to receive \u201cpreventative chemotherapy\u201d over the summer to treat an undisclosed form of the disease before spending some months recovering.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe direction is positive [but] there will not be great change [in terms of her public appearances] and no one is giving a timescale for her return,\u201d the Daily Mail\u2019s royal editor Rebecca English said.<\/p>\n

The Sussexes are being given a full security detail throughout their visit alongside Ms Marquez, who invited the couple to travel to Colombia for what has been dubbed a DIY royal tour.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, that appears hypocritical when you look at, say, security in Nigeria, even if it was arranged by the defence minister.<\/p>\n
\u201cOr the security in Colombia, even if the vice president is arranging it, and the facts simply are that both countries are considered somewhat dangerous, certainly parts of them.\u201d<\/p>\n
A representative for the Sussexes confirmed that they will have full security on their current trip to Colombia. It is not known if this is privately funded or not.<\/p>\n
