Donald Trump and his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, appeared to question the FBI\u2019s handling of the investigation into the assassination attempt against the former president on July 13. <\/p>\n
Trump and Vance appeared on Fox News on Monday night when they were asked about the probe. <\/p>\n
\u201cI don’t trust the bureau leadership but I certainly think there are a lot of good field agents … on the ground who have the country’s best interest at heart,\u201d Vance told host Jesse Watters. <\/p>\n
Trump added that at the \u201cmid and lower levels\u201d of the FBI, they\u2019re \u201cMAGA\u201d people. <\/p>\n
Meanwhile, US Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle admitted on Monday her agency failed to protect Donald Trump from an attempted assassination at a campaign rally, calling it the \u201cmost significant operational failure … in decades.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cheatle was grilled by House members at a contentious hearing over the blunders that allowed a 20-year-old gunman to scale a roof and open fire with his father\u2019s AR-15 assault-style rifle. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have come out demanding that Cheatle step down as the agency\u2019s leader.<\/p>\n
