Far-right thugs hijacked Armistice Day to attack police at a pro-Palestinian march in central London on Saturday, leading to violent clashes with officers and dozens of arrests.<\/p>\n
The Metropolitan Police condemned the \u201cextreme violence\u201d perpetrated by far-right groups as nine officers were injured preventing an \u201cintoxicated, aggressive and confrontational\u201d crowd from storming the Cenotaph.<\/p>\n
Assistant commissioner Matt Twist added that a knife, baton and knuckle duster were among the weapons officers confiscated from groups of football hooligans. The Met confirmed that 126 people were arrested throughout the day.<\/p>\n
It comes as Scottish first minister Humza Yousaf accused Suella Braverman of encouraging the far-right groups by \u201cfanning the flames of division\u201d and urged her to resign.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Husam Zumlot, the Palestinian ambassador to the UK, spoke movingly before hundreds of thousands of pro-Palestine supporters at the march as he remembered those who \u201clost their lives in the war\u201d and those who are \u201cstill falling today\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday is a reminder that it is only once the guns fall silent that peace can be achieved,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is why we are here today. To call for ceasefire.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group then surrounded the New York Times building near Times Square, smearing the entrance with fake red paint to resemble blood, before making their way to Grand Central Station.<\/p>\n
