Lewis Capaldi has said \u201cit\u2019s a very real possibility\u201d he \u201cwill have to\u201d quit the music industry.<\/p>\n
The singer-songwriter made the admission in an interview while promoting a new Netflix documentary, which is out now.<\/p>\n
Despite Capaldi selling millions of records, amassing a dedicated fanbase and winning multiple awards in recent years, he has been open about the imposter syndrome he suffers.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s only making music that does this to me,\u201d he told The Sunday Times, adding: \u201cOtherwise I can be fine for months at a time. So it\u2019s a weird situation.\u201d<\/p>\n
He continued: \u201cRight now, the trade-off is worth it. But if it gets to a point where I\u2019m doing irreparable damage to myself, I\u2019ll quit. <\/p>\n
\u201cI hate hyperbole but it is a very real possibility that I will have to pack music in.\u201d<\/p>\n
Capaldi, who wrote his song \u201cThe Pretender\u201d about the imposter syndrome he experiences, also discusses the subject in the documentary.<\/p>\n
He explained that, after Capaldi had discussed his feelings of inadequacy over beers with Ed Sheeran, Elton John got in touch to share some encouraging words for the singer.<\/p>\n
Capaldi told the outlet he was surprised that the documentary ended up being such a \u201csad watch\u201d.<\/p>\n
He says what started out as a film that would have followed him a she toured, the pandemic happened, and \u201cit turned into a film about me making the second record\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen it became a deeper look into aspects of my life that even I wasn\u2019t aware of,\u201d he said, stating: \u201cIn a way, it ended up like my career \u2013 it just got away from me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Capaldi has also opened up about the Tourette\u2019s symptoms he experiences on stage, saying they have been \u201cgetting quite bad\u201d recently.<\/p>\n
