The Glastonbury 2023 headliners have been announced by Emily Eavis.<\/p>\n
The festival\u2019s co-organiser shared the news in an article discussing \u201cpipeline\u201d problems related the all-male headlining line-up.<\/p>\n
Joining Elton John will be Arctic Monkeys on the Friday, with Guns N\u2019 Roses playing the Saturday slot.<\/p>\n
Eavis said that Guns N\u2019 Roses replaced a female singer who \u201cchanged her touring plans\u201d.<\/p>\n
While Eavis didn\u2019t name names, it\u2019s strongly suspected she was alluding to Taylor Swift, who was originally set to perform in 2020 when the festival was cancelled due to Covid.<\/p>\n
However, Eavis expressed excitement about the \u201cSweet Child of Mine\u201d rockers\u2019 Glastonnbury debut in a Guardian article, stating: \u201cThey\u2019ll be brilliant and provide something totally different to the rest of the headliners.\u201d <\/p>\n
Eavis also announced the first wave of acts set to perform at Glastonbury, and, in response to the fact that that 53 per cent of the 55 names are men, she said: \u201cWe are entirely focused on balancing our bill.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not just about gender, it\u2019s about every aspect of diversity.\u201d <\/p>\n
Eavis denied reports that Spice Girls would perform this year, saying: \u201cThat is not a conversation we\u2019re having at the moment\u201d. However, she confirmed that Mel C would play a solo set after a successful appearance in 2022.<\/p>\n
