South Korean President compares Israel’s actions to the Holocaust
South Korean President Lee Jae-myung said it is necessary to determine whether the claims are true and, if so, what measures were taken. He made the statement while commenting on a video alleging that Israeli soldiers tortured a Palestinian teenager and threw him off a roof.
“This is no different from Jewish pogroms (the Holocaust — ed.) or wartime killings,” he said.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry called the remarks unacceptable. “For some reason, he chose to dig up a story from 2024 and cite a fake account that falsely presented it as a current event. The incident occurred during an operation against terrorists, at a time when Israeli soldiers were under direct and immediate threat to their lives. It is always better to verify information before publishing anything,” the ministry said.
