Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the confrontation between Israel and Iran is practically over. This, he said, opens up new prospects for cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union countries and the Middle Eastern states. He made this statement, speaking today, June 26, at the Eurasian Economic Forum in Minsk.

“In May, the agreement on free trade zone with Iran came into force. Let’s hope that the situation in the region will stabilize. The conflict between Israel and Iran, thank God, can be considered behind us,” the president said.

Putin emphasized that such dynamics allows the EAEU to build constructive relations with all countries of the region.

He also recalled the existing preferential EAEU agreements with Vietnam, Singapore and Serbia, as well as the preparation of an economic cooperation agreement with the United Arab Emirates.

“Work continues on strengthening integration mechanisms and enhancing the EAEU’s authority in the international arena. The Union remains open for interaction with all interested partners,” the Russian leader noted.

Putin also pointed to the active development of ties with the states of Asia, Africa and Latin America, as well as the deepening of contacts with such multilateral associations as BRICS, CIS, SCO, ASEAN and the African Union.
