Armenia needs to establish new requirements for the export of fish and fish products to the European Union (EU) countries. Deputy Minister of Economy Tatevik Sargsyan on Wednesday announced this during the debates on the second and final reading of the legislative package on amendments to the law on food safety and amendments to related laws at the meeting of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia.
The aforesaid legislative package proposes to establish the requirements that fish farms, fish product producing organizations, and companies storing them in Armenia must meet in order to register in the EU Trade Control and Expert Evaluation System (TRACES).
Also, the document intends to approve the procedure for registering and terminating registration of Armenia’s economic entities in this system, as well as issuing health certificates for the export of fish or fish products from Armenia to EU countries.
“The legislative initiative will enter into force the day after its official publicizing. And the sub-legislative normative legal acts must be adopted within two months after the official publicizing of the law,” Sargsyan added.
After brief debates, the aforementioned parliamentary standing committee approved this legislative initiative.
