5th Meeting of EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee held in Brussels

The 5th Meeting of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee (PPC) took place in Brussels Thursday, Armenian News-NEWS.am was informed by the Republic of Armenia National Assembly (RA NA).

Co-chaired by Arman Yeghoyan, the Chair of the Standing Committee on European Integration of the RA National Assembly, Co-Chair of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee, and Nils Ušakovs, Member of the European Parliament, Co-Chair of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee, the members discussed Armenia’s democratic resilience before the June 2026 parliamentary elections, the deepening of the EU-Armenia cooperation in the political, economic and security fields, the path to visa liberalization, and the prospects for making the South Caucasus a future communication hub.

During the Meeting, reference was also made to the agenda items for regulating regional peace and relations.

In their speeches the members of the European Parliament, Leading Member on Armenia Nacho Sánchez Amor, Rasa Juknevičienė, Cristian Terheș, Per Klausen, Dainius Žalimas expressed support for democracy in Armenia and the peace process with Azerbaijan.

RA Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan gave an online speech at the Meeting, presenting Armenia’s progress and prospects in the visa liberalization process.

The Head of Mission of the Republic of Armenia to the European Union, Ambassador Tigran Balayan presented the preparatory work for the PPC and the first RA-EU summits and the expectations of the Armenian side, as well as touched upon infrastructure projects, underscoring the readiness of Armenia to deepen cooperation with European partners.
